Incredible! I love the face and hair! The whole character design is great. Its just kindof unfortunate that you have that pixelation around the entirety of her body. Maybe just render it out at a higher resolution?

Thanks!

Yeah, I know :(
The sampling quality is really shabby, I was counting hours in end.
Didn't dare upping it.

Though the whole image could have benefited from a paintover.

Really nice piece. I like the style you have gone for with the lighting, but it looks a little unrealistic, the line between the blue highlights and the rest look a little off. I would perhaps try and achiever a smoother, but still high contrast, transition between the two light sources.

This is very good, the only thing i would suggest is, adding more texture to the top its looking really plastic and to clean, but really good in all

I don't know, waxed hard leather can get very plastic'ish
[link]

however, I should have put more detail into the actuall model, perhaps add more overlaying parts.

And perhaps I will... not sure if I'm done with this or not.

yes but if you see by the link, the leather still as a slight texture to it, but yeah its up to you if you want to add to it

perhaps your right, I did try to match up the look to photo.

but its tricking getting shaders 100% in all types of lighting.

thats awesome love mud box really need to play more in that program -.-:D did you model a bast in another program first and the hair is that done in post like in photoshop or did you sculpt it in mudbox. ?

I modeled the base mesh in Maya.
Its then sculpted in Mudbox and skinned and posed in 3dsMax.

Render is vray, and scanline with hairfx for hair.
The hair is about 130 splines handplaced in 3dsmax.

whats a scanline? just a type of painfx havent played much with it. did you convert it to Geo or did you keep it as a painfx if so how did you set up the render layers.?

sorry for all the questions just curious. :D

Scanline is just a nickname for the default buildt inn renderer a 3d program has, in this case the scanline render in 3dsmax.
Hairfx is a hair/fur atmospherics plugin for 3dsmax.
I converted it to geo and kept it as splines both. Needed the geo to cast shadows and the splines controls the hair growth for hairfx.

cool never heard that term before :). do you render the shadows on a seperate layer ? and do you import the model as a hi res or do you just export maps from mudbox and ally it to the low res ? im looking into doing some mudbox to maya stuff.

I didnt render the shadows seperate on this. Though I did pull out an AO pass and a falloff pass.

I imported the highpoly from mudobox. for this, its easier for still image that way.
